The wine
Deeply coloured with complex aromas of ripe red fruits, leather and attractive hints of undergrowth, this velvety wine shows a wonderful alliance between power and elegance, culminating in a long, savoury finish. Les Cailloux is the wine that earned Andre Brunel international recognition, and takes its name from the galets roules, the great smooth stones that cover these vineyards and hold the day's heat well into the night.

André Brunel
View all André Brunel winesThe Brunel family first settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the seventeenth century and have made wine there for five generations. Andre Brunel took over in 1971 and expanded the estate considerably, earning international recognition for the intensity and concentration of his wines, and for Les Cailloux in particular.
The family now farms 22 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and a further 40 in the Cotes du Rhône, all sustainably cultivated and HVE certified. Andre's son Fabrice has taken over, and having built a new winery he continues the family approach of combining modern technical precision with the traditional power of the southern Rhône. Les Cailloux takes its name from the galets roules, the great smooth stones that cover the vineyards and hold the day's heat well into the night.
