Domaine Madeloc

Domaine Madeloc sits at Banyuls-sur-Mer, in the far south of the Roussillon where France runs into Catalonia and the Pyrenees drop straight into the sea. It belongs to Pierre Gaillard, better known for his northern Rhône estates. He grew up in vineyards, was found ploughing the family plot behind a horse at the age of twelve, studied oenology at Montpellier, and managed vineyards for Guigal before setting out on his own in 1981.Collioure is the dry-wine appellation that shares its ground with Banyuls, worked on terraces so steep that everything is done by hand. The wines carry a salinity that comes from being grown within sight of the Mediterranean.
