Founded in Epernay in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adelaide Jouet, Perrier-Jouët has always had an artistic streak. In 1902 the house commissioned Emile Galle to decorate a bottle with Japanese anemones in enamel; the design was forgotten in the cellars until 1964, and now adorns Belle Époque, one of the most beautiful bottles in wine. The style is floral and Chardonnay-led, delicate rather than powerful, and unmistakably its own.
