Founded in 1924, the Cellier des Princes is the only cooperative cellar in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It draws on the meticulous work of its member growers, on complex and varied soils, and on vineyards with unusually favourable exposure and considerable vine age.
The result is wine of real structure and opulence, shaped by the hot dry climate and the chalky, pebbled soils of the southern Rhône. Cooperatives are too often dismissed; this one demonstrates what happens when a group of growers pools genuinely good land.
